Region One Organizational Study
In the spring of 2026, all seven local Boards of Education asked the Superintendent and Business Manager to lead an Organizational Study of Region One. The purpose of this study is to take a thoughtful, comprehensive look at our K–8 structure and consider how we can continue to provide excellent educational opportunities for students while also planning responsibly for the long-term future of our schools and communities.
The study will look at a variety of factors, including demographic trends, enrollment patterns, educational programming, building capacity, and operational and financial considerations. This information will help us better understand where we are today and what opportunities and challenges may exist as we look toward the future.
Just as importantly, this process will include the voices of our communities. We plan to engage families, staff, students, community members, and other stakeholders throughout the process. Each of our seven towns has its own history, traditions, strengths, and perspectives, and it is important that every community has an opportunity to be heard and meaningfully participate in this work. The Superintendent and Business Manager are working with the ABC Committee and Town Selectmen to make sure each of the Town’s is appropriately represented and involved.
We want to be very clear that no decisions are being made at this time. The Organizational Study is an opportunity to gather information, listen to our communities, examine the data, and learn together. There are no predetermined outcomes or decisions being presented through this process.
Our goal is to ensure that any future conversations about the Region are informed by good information, thoughtful analysis, and, most importantly, the voices of the people who make up our communities. This is a process of listening, learning, and exploring together as we consider how to best support our students and sustain strong schools for generations to come.
